Now, we're waiting on Qatar's definition. Are they "makin' a list and checkin' it twice, gonna find out who's naughty and nice"? Ok, I'm being a bit glib here and there are always two sides to every story. I'm going to let this one play out, so in the meantime~Don't cancel my visa!

Qatar Grand Prix ~ Day 2

It was day two of the UIM F1 H20 races today. Ok, I'm not sure what all that means, so Google it if you must. I'll just refer to them as the boat races.

It was an extremely hazy day for the races

but it didn't dampen the spirits of the spectators or drivers




















Lots of action, but only one boat WINS...

While David and I indulge in a little Nescafe being distributed on
the Corniche ~ that's a handy dandy machine, no?

Qatar Grand Prix

Event: UIM F1 H20 Qatar Grand Prix
Where: Corniche~Doha Qatar
When: March 4-5

It was a beautiful day on the corniche to enjoy some water sports Doha style. I just wish I would have had my camera ready for that crash and burn action above, hence the blurry picture. Fortunately, everyone seemed to be safe and sound after the flip, not so sure about their boats, though. There's another full day of races tomorrow, if you missed out today. Later, mates!

Carpet Shopping 101

There is nothing more exhilarating than taking someone carpet shopping in Doha and watching the experience unfold before your eyes while spending their money. Can it get any better? I chronicled my friend Mary's visit, while absorbing loads of carpet facts and sipping on tea from our hosts.

Flip through 100's of hand made carpets

Give the guys a really good workout by saying,
"I want to look at that one on the bottom"
well, not quite, but almost!

Drag your "narrowed down to" carpets outside
for 360° viewing

Get some much needed advice from "the expert"
when the eliminating gets tough

Cha~Ching, we have a winner!

Pack your pricey souvenir and you're good to go

Whoa, that was fun. The downside of taking someone else carpet shopping is that you come dangerously close to spending your own money~defeating the whole purpose. David lucked out this time, momentarily anway. I did see some rugs that would look pretty snazzy back in our Texas home.

Word to the wise: Don't buy the first carpet you see. Ask questions, questions, questions! Shop around over a period of days, weeks, months or however long it takes. Good carpet vendors expect to see you multiple times before you zone in on that one special carpet. Enjoy the ride.
