Our five year adventure in Doha, Qatar ended June 1, 2012, but the memories will always remain. It's back to Texas where I have decided...Qatar isn't cornering the market on "quirky", as I once believed. Thanks for opening my eyes to the world, Doha!

All Good Things

"You shouldn't overspend at the moment.

Frugality is important."

The above ditty is was pulled from my fortune cookie yesterday while dining with Kristi. It did give me a bit of a pause, even though I don't really believe in fortunes and such. While we were stuffing our faces with sushi and Mandarin chicken in Texas, David was settling in for a night's sleep on the other side of the world unknowingly awaiting his our fate. So, David Skyped me this morning. Drum roll..........January 1. The magic date by his name that we've been waiting to hear, not necessarily wanting to hear, had been announced. Holy gee willikers, Batman ~ I still have things to do, people to see, and places to go! Ok, calm down, all good things must come to an end. Seriously, who said that and why do they? It was a nice ride, Qatar.

  3. So is this a definite statement that you are coming back to the states or are there other possibilities? By the way, I did not get this post but I got Kristi's comments to it.

  5. Actually, I am kinda sad you are coming home. I was hoping we would do some traveling before you made it back to the states.

  6. I'm "actually sad", too, Regina! We have no idea where we'll end up. Somewhere in Southeast Texas, no doubt. We are VERY open to all possibilities.

Sorry, Kristi, you were still asleep and I needed to share ~ ;P (p.s. you will live)

Paula, very civilized, indeed! Hopefully enough time to get all our ducks in a row.

  10. I'm very sad for you as well. If ever there was a "poster child" for living abroad it was you. You embraced every bit of culture Qatar had to offer and displayed a positive image of America. And of course the big question on the tips of all our tongues....Will you continue the BLOG????

We all look forward to your take on LIFE!

  12. Ahh, welcome to the 'we aren't ready to leave Doha' club! Remember: no date is set in stone until your boarding pass is in hand! Start your list now of things to do before you leave. Enjoy your time there....and hound the HR department for details and helpful information.

  13. Drat! Not that I don't want you back here, but now my dreams of visiting you in the land of Qatar are dashed. You know, as long as you would have lived there I would have "planned" to visit. ;-) Now you will have to create a new blog for your fans.
