Our five year adventure in Doha, Qatar ended June 1, 2012, but the memories will always remain. It's back to Texas where I have decided...Qatar isn't cornering the market on "quirky", as I once believed. Thanks for opening my eyes to the world, Doha!

Deserting the Desert

I got a dressing down by daughter Kayla last night regarding me talking about Michael Jackson and other current events instead of Doha happenings. She doesn't want to read about worldly news on my blog. I already knew that I had been veering from Doha's dusty trail this week, but it's a ghost town over here. People start deserting this desert town as soon as the heat and humidity roll in. On my Facebook page, our local Doha expats doing their summer sabbaticals back in the states are obnoxiously bragging about wearing their short shorts while frying up some bacon that they bought from Walmart with margaritas in hand. Well, maybe not exactly in that order or all at the same time, but I get their drift. Thankfully, we'll be joining their ranks in exactly one week! Woohoo, from Doha heat to Texas heat. It works for me. As Fred Sanford used to say, "I'm coming to join you, Elizabeth*!". See you in seven!

*Elizabeth is Fred's dearly departed wife, but for the practical purpose of this post she is my code name for dear family and friends.
