Our five year adventure in Doha, Qatar ended June 1, 2012, but the memories will always remain. It's back to Texas where I have decided...Qatar isn't cornering the market on "quirky", as I once believed. Thanks for opening my eyes to the world, Doha!

In the Eyes of the Beholder

I've been putting off this post, maybe because I wasn't sure how I was going to approach the subject at hand. You know, Qatar has some of the most beautiful and extraordinary architecture in the world. Seriously, with all the current construction and future plans for more, this place is an architect's dream. I have to tell you, though, one of these new structures is just wrong. The "penis building", as I like to call it, simply looks overbearing and out of place. Just sayin'.

Now, tell the truth, didn't you think the same thing?!

  1. Beautiful picture Syb. I love the white puffy clouds. Unusual for Doha, wouldn't you agree?
More than a coincidence that the minarets and mosques take on the male physique. Tell us, does the "penis" building light up at night? Curious minds want to know!

  2. Those clouds are real, Kar! I know what you are thinking, you stinker. They are not photoshopped. You are right, though, puffy clouds are quite unusual for Doha. Now, back to the crux of the matter. Does it light up at night, you ask? Perhaps with a dose of Viagra ;)

Heck, I don't know, girl, but now you have me curious!

  6. Hahahah YES Sybil! Duncan and I have been fighting about this for months.

He thinks it's beautiful, I think it's the most phallic thing I've ever seen.

At least it's got people talking, that's what architecture is supposed to do!
