Our five year adventure in Doha, Qatar ended June 1, 2012, but the memories will always remain. It's back to Texas where I have decided...Qatar isn't cornering the market on "quirky", as I once believed. Thanks for opening my eyes to the world, Doha!

Freedom...How Sweet It Is

I hope you all had a great Fourth of July enjoying the freedoms that our great service men and women have blessed us with. We did, though, in a sweaty fashion. David and I worked in the yard all afternoon trimming bushes, pulling weeds, and clearing supposed pathways on either side of the house. What we lack in grass around these parts, we make up for in weeds and random trees popping up here and there. Nope, no parades, fireworks, or weenie roasts for us today (but we did reward ourselves to dinner at Texas Roadhouse this evening for our efforts). Kristi was the most patriotic today...whipping up a batch of red, white, and blue cupcakes for a celebration with her friends tonight. David and I squeezed in a little taste test with our evening coffee. They were festive and delicious. As my dad would say "Of course, they were good. There was sugar in them, wasn't there?!". Happy "4th", everyone.

  1. Somehow I didn't picture Kristi being a little miss susie homemaker. She's looking adventurous there. Good going Kristi!

  7. Hi Nasim! I love Qatar because it's such a melting pot of different cultures. Being from a small town in Texas, we didn't have that. I feel like the experience has opened my eyes up to the world. You might not have that same outlook, since you've probably already witnessed the "outside" world. Doha is not near as convenient as the states, but if you don't mind traffic and love to shop and eat, you'll love it here! Good Luck on whatever the outcome brings!

  8. thanx for the reply :) i don't know why but I can't seem to find ur email address.. but here's mine nasimorabi@yahoo.com..so we don't need to discuss long topics here.. I just wanna say define convenient? yes, I don't mind traffic( Syria's traffic is ridiculous, and we also lived in NY for a while) and I love shopping and going out, and having so many choices of restaurants ( which we don't have here in Oshkosh) but for me that is convenience!! what do u think??
