Our five year adventure in Doha, Qatar ended June 1, 2012, but the memories will always remain. It's back to Texas where I have decided...Qatar isn't cornering the market on "quirky", as I once believed. Thanks for opening my eyes to the world, Doha!

They Say It's My Birthday!

This afternoon our Doha Ladies group is having an "Unbirthday" party. I haven't quite figured out what that term actually means, but I understand what it's trying to accomplish. Food, fun, and gifts! We're leaving the confines of our flamingo pink villas to join the other half of our ladies at Villa D'Este across town. Chevron Phillips has a couple of key compounds in which they house us, one in the North of Doha (us) and a couple on the South side. The company has several different projects going on complete opposite sides of Qatar and for the most part, place us accordingly. Anywho, we're having a gathering to celebrate all the ladies' birthdays at once...trying to get it in before nearly everyone leaves the country for cooler grounds. As it is, quite a few have already headed west. Get your globes out, people. Yesterday registered in at 106 F. Fortunately for us, the humidity is still registering low. Thank goodness. Back to the subject of birthdays, I don't think I told y'all that I took Kristi and a couple of friends to Chili's a while back for lunch. Well the sneaky little twits told the waiter that it was my birthday and here they ALL come singing to me. Of course, my birthday is in November, no where in sight. I do have to say, though, that the ice cream brownie concoction was out of this world. Enough already, I'm off to the unbirthday party with macaroni salad in hand and a gift for who knows who.
