I was visiting one of our local Doha websites aimed at providing information and happenings in the community yesterday, and discovered that ILOVEQATAR.NET is working on a project for our local laborers (or labourers for us on this side of the world). You know the guys I'm talking about. The ones that are working in Qatar's dangerous temperatures and even more dangerous conditions. You can't miss them as the whole of Qatar is one big construction zone. They put it all on the line for five or six hundred riyals a month hoping to amass fortunes to send back home. They can hardly be accomplishing those goals when that equates to less than 200 U.S. dollars per month*. I know, unbelievable. Anyway, ILQ is taking it upon themselves to spread the love by delivering t-shirts, calling cards, drinks, and more to these guys right there at their work sites. These workers appreciate just a simple smile and a hello. Can you imagine their faces when presented with token gifts that we all take for granted? So, right here, right now, from your fancy computer while sitting with your a.c. blasting and sipping on your skinny latte (oh, that's me!) , CLICK THE BUTTON below and give a little. Bring a smile to yourself and someone else, as well. Hey, they even take PAYPAL! You might even consider forwarding this to friends so that they can spread their love, as well. Cheers!
By the way Qatar Living volunteers just did a similar drive for the workers (kudos to them!), but that doesn't mean the job is done. Remember, most of Qatar's 1.6 million population is the labor force. There are thousands out there to be helped!
*It's hard to find a good source for this figure, but it is the one consistently heard around the country. I did find a thread discussing this in Qatar Living.
