We finally nailed down our winter visit home to Texas, opting for Qatar Airways nonstop Doha to Houston flight (
a first for us). Sixteen hours and forty five minutes in the air might be a bit of a stretch, but we're really looking forward to no layovers or plane changes. That can really add quite a few hours to a flight. Two years ago when I booked a last minute flight, it took us nearly thirty hours of air and layover time to get home (
just to the airport). It was a trip from hell I tell you. So, this flight including the waiting time in Customs in Houston and the drive to Kyle will be about 21 hours. Just call it "a breeze" by our previous standards. Now, we just need a ride from Houston to our home in Kyle. Kayla, Kristi, Dustin...Anybody? Any and all offers are welcomed. Let me officially announce from the hilltops right now that there's no such thing as "passing by and dropping in" after an 8000 mile trip. Our itinerary includes the obligatory visits for those in the immediate family of over 75 years of age. No commitments by us for anything other than that. We already have
too many donuts on our plate. I want to keep this as stress free as possible (
impossible). That being said, I 'm looking forward to seeing each and every one of your smiling faces! Until then...

ReplyDeleteHey, we'll be flying out of IAH on 11/20, but we'll be in Ohio by the time you get here. Enjoy the visit with your family!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you flying and me driving would be a good race.
ReplyDeleteWell, it looks like your kids are fighting over who is going to get to pick you up. So I'll join in the fight with them! Just let me know.
