Our five year adventure in Doha, Qatar ended June 1, 2012, but the memories will always remain. It's back to Texas where I have decided...Qatar isn't cornering the market on "quirky", as I once believed. Thanks for opening my eyes to the world, Doha!

Morsels

It has come to my attention that David Beckham won't be gracing us with his presence for this Saturday's friendly match between England and Brazil here in Doha. Not to worry, I plan on it being a lot of fun, nonetheless. It will be my first big league soccer game to attend and his absence will not deter me. Besides my son says the player to watch on England's team is Wayne Rooney. That's good to know, because truth be told, I have about zero knowledge of what's going on in the "football" world. Other than that, Shea told me to hope for Peter Crouch to score for England, so that I can be entertained by some robotic dance he's known for. Go Pete!

Qatar World Cup Bid 2022...yes, I did say 2022. Banners, billboards, advertisements everywhere regarding this event. Their mantra is "Expect Amazing". It will be if they can keep up with the pace that their media blitz is working at. My gosh, their logos are infiltrating Doha like Alfred Hitchcock's, "The Birds". Thank goodness that FIFA will be announcing the winning host on December 2, 2010. Good luck with that, by the way! Somehow I don't think I'll still be in this fair country in 2022. Surely not.

My blog was given a shout out on Qatar Visitor's website listing the best blogs in Qatar! Woohoo. I'll have to decide if that's a reflection of the lack of literary prowess in the area or a true compliment. I'll take the latter. Thanks, guys!
