Our five year adventure in Doha, Qatar ended June 1, 2012, but the memories will always remain. It's back to Texas where I have decided...Qatar isn't cornering the market on "quirky", as I once believed. Thanks for opening my eyes to the world, Doha!

No Lashes for Doha

This was a front page article in The Qatar Tribune last weekend, October 31st, to be exact. It seems to be more of a wish list than news. To be fair, the possibility of rain in the country is news, I guess. In the event that even the slightest of drops fall, you can bet your boots that twitter and facebook will be abuzz with locals breaking the news (yours truly, included). Now, the term "lash" seems a bit harsh to me, especially since the skies never appeared to even think about unloading on us. I didn't even know there was a possibility until I finally picked up my Tribune and scanned it a few days later. I really love the part where the meteorology department declares that we have already entered autumn. Rocket scientists, I tell you. Even more enlightening is the fact that they forecast that temps will drop in the coming days. Amazing. Hah, take that global warming! In the meantime, I'll just sit tight and wait on those "smart" showers. Tootles.

  1. Pretty soon, the Emir will have his annual prayer for rain. I suspect the met office advise him when it's likely to rain, but often it takes several weeks for his prayer to be answered.
