Our five year adventure in Doha, Qatar ended June 1, 2012, but the memories will always remain. It's back to Texas where I have decided...Qatar isn't cornering the market on "quirky", as I once believed. Thanks for opening my eyes to the world, Doha!

Doha Cultural Festival Launch

It makes me nervous using songs when I don't know what they are saying. If you speak Arabic & the lyrics are objectionable, let me know!

It's official, we've been found out. Our waitress at Bennigan's last night, walked up to our "designated" booth and said, "Will it be the usual buffalo chicken sandwich cut in half with two iced teas tonight?". Not to disappoint her, we said, "well, of course", not that we would have strayed, anyway. After dinner we headed over to the National Theatre to see what was scheduled for the launch of the Doha Cultural Festival happening this weekend. We really didn't know what we were getting ourselves into as everything in the paper is always vague about the what, when, and where of the events. So, do they want you to go or not? We haven't figured that one out, yet. We just know that something is always going on if you can just break the code and find out those three little pieces of info. When we arrived at the theatre, the building and grounds were lit up with a beautiful light display in every color of the rainbow. There was an out of this world buffet set up with a spread of jumbo shrimp that would embarrass those great coastal seafood restaurants back home in Texas. Did I mention that we had already eaten at Bennigan's? What were we thinking? So, we passed up the food and just enjoyed the art display and people in costume, along with the various diplomats. Only problem was, we didn't know who was who, but we knew they were there because of the line of flagged black sedans. So unfortunately, I don't have any, "OMG, you'll never believe who I met stories". Until that happens, these unretouched pics will have to do. Later.
