Our five year adventure in Doha, Qatar ended June 1, 2012, but the memories will always remain. It's back to Texas where I have decided...Qatar isn't cornering the market on "quirky", as I once believed. Thanks for opening my eyes to the world, Doha!

Friday Faux Pas

I thought I'd get up and at'em this morning despite another terrible night's sleep, so I headed to our newly opened LuLu Hypermarket around 11:15am. Ok, so that's my definition of "up and at'em". As I was pulling into the parking lot, some white man leaving in a Land Cruiser (wanna be Qatari?) grabbed my attention and was putting his hands in prayer formation and nodding to me. OMG, he's hitting on me by asking me to go pray at the mosque with him for Friday prayer! Ugh, creepoid, don't mess with me while I'm jet lagging. I avoided his advances and continued on to the entrance which wasn't working by the way and entered through the exit door. I decided I'd check out the upstairs first, before doing my grocery shopping and see what fun stuff they had in store for me. As I was coming off the escalator, I was greeted by a mob of security guards informing me that they weren't open. I'm acting all confused then realize that they were trying to inform me that they close from 11:30am to 1:00pm for Friday prayer. Hmm, could that be why the entrance door wouldn't open? Oh, and by the way... sorry creepoid, my bad!
