Our five year adventure in Doha, Qatar ended June 1, 2012, but the memories will always remain. It's back to Texas where I have decided...Qatar isn't cornering the market on "quirky", as I once believed. Thanks for opening my eyes to the world, Doha!

Tennis, Anyone?

Are you ready for some tennis? I'm not sure it's as exciting as Hank and his rowdy friends' football, but for Doha it's the ticket. Sony Ericsson is sponsoring the 2008 end all ladies' tennis tournament in none other than the desert between November 4th and 9th. Where else would you have weather this nice in November? Thus far, Serena Williams from the USA has qualified and will be gracing us with her presence. No word on sister Venus, yet. We really enjoyed watching Russia's Maria Sharapova win the Total Open earlier this year, but she's injured so no qualification is forthcoming from her. The tournament that we attended back in February was free, but the Sony Ericsson tournament directed decided that he didn't like that concept and wanted Doha to charge for tickets. What a party pooper. So, I had to shell out all of $5.50 per ticket for the finals. For the semi finals, only the new temporary nosebleed section, yes I said temporary, was available, so I had to pay a whopping $2.75 each. I mean, why even bother. Do you realize how much $2.75 is for these people. Wait a minute, let me ask the Qatari that just passed me in his Maserati. Seriously now.

  1. Hey girl!
I just got back online and I've been busy, busy, busy catching up with all the blogs I've missed. When I saw the "Tennis Anyone?" I seriously thought you were baiting me. Now that I've read the blog I'm absolutely sure of it! I'm sick that I won't be able to join you for some great tennis.

BTW, I hope to blog very soon! Think of you everyday.
