Our five year adventure in Doha, Qatar ended June 1, 2012, but the memories will always remain. It's back to Texas where I have decided...Qatar isn't cornering the market on "quirky", as I once believed. Thanks for opening my eyes to the world, Doha!

Extra Extra Read All About It!

Move over Huffington Post, I'm now a bonafide member of the archives of one of Qatar's local newspapers, Gulf Times. Imagine my surprise this morning when @avkumar rolls across my tweetdeck...

Huh? I've never even been contacted by the Gulf Times?! I clicked on his link and sure enough, there it was "American expat invents car-baked cookies!". I headed to the gym, picked up a hard copy of the newspaper, and there it was, again, in black and white on page 28 with a huge picture. Afterward, I even notice that there was a teaser pic of the Tahoe on the top of the front page. Did you catch that, FRONT PAGE!

Making the newspaper for my culinary skills is quite the stretch. I'm the product of a mom that would pour out a can of Chef Boyardee spaghetti over rice and ring the dinner bell. I mean, a gourmet meal was mixing peanut butter and syrup and making a sandwich with it. Shoot, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. So, mom, I dedicate my ten minutes of fame to you.

The rest of the story...

Let's be clear, even though I'm flattered, I did NOT invent these cookies. I found the recipe via a link to Bakingbites.com that @dohanews tweeted. Special thanks to Shabina (@dohanews) for originally getting this post circulated through the Huffington Post.
