Our five year adventure in Doha, Qatar ended June 1, 2012, but the memories will always remain. It's back to Texas where I have decided...Qatar isn't cornering the market on "quirky", as I once believed. Thanks for opening my eyes to the world, Doha!

So Complicated

I have a proposition. Rather, I have received a proposition. Specifically to work outside my home. Horrors! I'm living the life of Riley over here. Why would I fall for such a thing? And who the heck is Riley, anyway. My mom always threw that phrase at me while growing up, as well as referring to me as Lady Astor, another mystery person. I don't think these terms were ever used to lovingly uplift my spirits, either. Something more to the effect of, get off your fat hiney and clean your room, little lady. So it seems, I'm being coaxed by someone years later to get off the aforementioned body part and do something! Part of me is saying, yeah baby, go for it, but the other part is saying, are you kidding me...give up all that bon bon eating? Settle down drama queen. The proposition is only for a chunk of time, not my life. Sort of like a part time, part time position. Could that be classified as same same, but different? Is anyone actually following me here. I think I've lost control of this post. Let me go. I have some thinking to do.

  1. OK, little lady, I guess you're going to keep us all in suspense about this new endeavor of yours?

  2. Syb, lets hear about the potential work... meanwhile, my mind is running rampent with the possibilities.

    Lets see...

You have received a secret agent message from Hormel enquiring whether you are interested in smuggling Vienna Sausage into the country.

You have been approached by a representative of the Shiek of Qatar that wants you to organize a Tex Mex BBQ Party that he is having for George Bush as he comes to visit next month. (George is going to negotiate the freedom of two Texans caught in a Qatar laundromat money laundering scheme.)

Which is it??? We want to know.

  3. The suspense is killing me. Although I would vote for "life of Riley" while you can get it. Besides, your blogging might slow down, then what would we anxious readers do?

  4. Olehere, definitely the Tex Mex barbeque with W. We have a lack of good Mexican food in the country & if the Emir were involved, there would be no expense spared. You can have the vienna sausage :)

Fran & Karen, I'm mum on that right now. Trust me, it's really NO big deal!

As for the blogging, I don't know if rotten tomatoes thrown my way would make me slow down!

  5. Lady Astor is perhaps Brooke Astor, the grande dame of New York who lived to 105, owned about half the city, and whose son was just convicted of trying to rob her of her fortune. I´m sure she lived well! Aside from the son and all...
